How To Link To A Certain Section Of Your Youtube Video

link to a specific section of your YouTube video
So you’ve just watched a great video on YouTube but only want to share a certain section of it with your subscribers so they don’t have to watch it all the way through.

Here are the 4 steps:

Step 1. Select the section in the video you wish to link to.

So in this case I’ve chosen which has received over 8 million views and selected the section that begins at 8 minutes and 49 seconds where he talks about “death”

“The third story is about death. When I was 17 I read a quote that went something like …if you live each day as if it were your last some day you’ll most certainly be right”

Step 2. Add the URL of the video to Notepad

Copy and paste the URL of your video to Notepad so you can easily add the html code for the section you want viewers to watch to the end the URL.

Step 3. Add the time where the section begins to the end of the URL.

As you can see the time added is 8 minutes forty nine seconds (#t=8m49secs)

Step 4. Enter the URL in your browser to check that it goes to the correct section

Sometimes you mistakenly add the wrong code to the end of the URL therefore always check you’ve entered it correctly by testing it in your browser.

That’s it!

Deep linking to a specific section of a long YouTube video enables you to just share the most important information with your viewers. Now you can share the URL with your viewers on social media sites, on your blog and in your articles.
