Video Ad Campaigns Merge With Core AdWords Interface – 5 Things You Need To Know

Did you know that YouTube Advertising Campaigns have
now merged with the core AdWords interface?

No longer do you have to go to a special section within AdWords to create and mange your video ad campaigns. No longer do you have to jump back and forth when optimizing across different campaign types. You’ll also save a ton of time working on different campaign types with the bulk management tools.

Here are the 5 things you need to know about the new AdWords Interface….

1. Campaign type selector
In the top left corner, you can find the campaign type selector. This is useful to see only campaigns of a certain type. For instance, selecting “Video” gives you a view of your campaigns.

2. Ad group creation
Targeting groups are now replaced with ad groups. Every ad group will have either an in-stream or in-display format. Though each ad group has only one format, campaigns can have multiple ad groups so you can still run both in-stream and in-display ads in the same campaign.

3. Bulk edits
You have a ton of options designed to help you manage, optimize, and report on accounts with lots of campaigns. For instance, bulk editing lets you modify information for multiple campaigns at once – directly from the use interface and bulk uploads let you download a snapshot of your campaigns, make changes at the same time

4. Filters
Now have the ability to filter your results to isolate things like campaign name, label, cost, and conversions.

5. Creating remarketing lists
Video remarketing is now in the AdWords shared library and YouTube account linking is in the linked accounts section. You’ll also be able to see analytics for your video ads within the new “Videos” tab, and manage your targeting within the “Video targeting” tab.

To upgrade, login to your AdWords account, go to “all video campaigns” click on the Upgrade Center link to easily switch over all your campaigns in one fell swoop.

Should You Buy YouTube Views Using AdWords To Increase Rankings – Case Study

Several months ago I tried to rank a YouTube video on the first page of Google for the keyword phrase “Web Design Salisbury MD” Since the keyword phrase was not a really competitive one I thought it would be relatively easy to get it ranked.

After optimizing the title, description and tags and submitting to social bookmarking sites it ranked on the first page of Google videos but was no where to be found in Google search. After setting up a video ads campaign on Google AdWords it jumped to No 1 on Google.

Here’s how I set-up my video ads campaign

I started the campaign on August 17th and I didn’t get any views until August 20th where I got 796 views and August 21st I got 3,752 views and stopped the campaign on August 22nd and got no more views.

Here’s my video ad…
Professional web design,
Get a custom designed website,
Increase traffic, leads and sales

I got 4,548 views
I got a view rate of 24.62%
Average cost per view only 1 cent
And I paid a total cost of $58.52
49 clicks and a click through rate of 0.27%

Here are my campaign settings…
I set a budget of $5.00 a day
I targeted all languages and all countries and territories
For the ads I set up an in-stream ad and an in-display ad
For the in-stream ad my display URL is my website as well as the final URL is also my website

For my in-display ad I just set up the headline , description. second description. You can set it to your channel page on YouTube or the video watch page on YouTube which is what I did.

That’s it!

Keep these important things in mind when
setting up your video ads campaign..

1. Make sure you’ve optimized your title, description and tags.
2. Set up both in-stream and in-display video ads
3. Set your daily bid amount to $5.00 a day and
your maximum cost per view to 1 or 2 cents
4. Wait several days to see an increase in your rankings.
5. Rankings will vary depending on your niche. That’s it!

Now you know how to get first page rankings on
Google by setting up a video ads campaign.

Video Drill Review and Demo – Creative Profitable Video Ads Campaigns

Do you want to know how to get higher click-through rates, lower advertising costs and a higher return on investment (more sales, leads & profits) with YouTube Video Ads Campaigns?

Video Drill Helps You Find the Most Targeted Audiences
on YouTube to Run Your Video Ad Campaigns To.

Watch the video below…

Here are the top 7 most powerful features of Video Drill Software:

1. Video & Channel Dashboard
Build up targeted audiences from different keyword
combinations which can be exported with 1 click.

2. Keyword Search Module

Video Drill allows you to find keywords searched by users on YouTube, where as doing so manually only provides keywords from Google. Again, providing more targeted search results relative to video advertising.

3. Video Search
Finding video URLs to target is time consuming. Picking out video URLs one by one and building up 100 links can take hours. Video Drill allows you to generate a targeted list of videos of any size in a few clicks. These are called Target Groups.

4. Channel Search
Just like “Video Search”, this module allows you to search channels to target on YouTube. Grab all the video uploads from one channel in one click, or create full channel lists that can be targeted in an ad. Saving time and going the extra mile. These are called Channel Groups.

5. Advanced Filtering System

Unlike any other targeting software, Video Drill has an additional filtering system built in to help narrow down to the most targeted audiences to run ads to.

6. Smart Ranking
Rank your videos by likes, comments, dislikes, like/dislike ratio or channels by the subscribers, views etc, allowing you to find the best videos possible to target within a specific niche.

7. Ad Drill
1 click upload to AdWords. Select a single or multiple target groups from your dashboard and create an ad that can be exported to AdWords in one click.

The problem with manually doing YouTube advertising is you usually have to get the placement URLs (the videos you want to advertise on) one by one. This is painstakingly time-consuming. Video Drill allows users to get as many as they want with a few clicks (not only that, but more targeted videos too).

YouTube Video Ads Top 10 Best Practices

Video ads are a highly effective low cost opportunity to increase visibility, improve branding and generate leads. The most effective video ads are based on a variety of best practices.

Here are the top 10 best practices to get
you started on the right foot….

Watch the video below…

1. Define your audience before you start creating your ad
The more specific you get when targeting your ad the better return on investment. For example only create one targeting group per video.

2. Grab viewers attention in the first 5 seconds
Most ads are watched within 30 seconds so you need to grab the attention of your viewer within the first 5 seconds otherwise you’ll lose them. One way to achieve this is to ask a question at the beginning of your video.

3. Keep your video short and simple
A video ad is typically less than a minute long so don’t try to cram too much information in that time. Instead just focus on one main one point you want to get across.

4. Script your videos
Instead of “winging it” and making a bunch of mistakes, try writing out a script of the content of your video. Avoid reading the script while shooting the video. You can do this by just memorizing one line or 2 so it will sound natural to your listeners.

5. Include a call-to-action
If you want viewers to see your offer or to opt-in to your landing page you have to tell them what to do. To do this make sure you ad your call to action before the end of the video.

6. Optimize your campaign to improve conversions
Start with broad targets, such as “All topics” or “All interests” to let your ads accumulate views and clicks. Once you have data on individual topics and individual interests, then create new targeting groups. Set higher bids for high performers. Set low initial bids such as $0.05 then adjust based on the results.

7. Track your conversions
If you don’t set-up conversion tracking for your ads you won’t know which ad is performing better than the other one. Once you’ve gathered sufficient data then pause the ad that is not performing well.

8. Test different targeting groups
You may discover that the targeting group that you created for your ad doesn’t generate any views or clicks. Instead of giving up try a different targeting group such as keywords, interests or placements.

9. Test different types of ads
Create different video ads to test the effectiveness of different assets. The talking head video that you spent hours filming may not appeal to your target audience. Try creating an explainer video to see if it performs better. You just might be surprised with the results.

10. Add negative targets for your ads
If your your ad is not relevant to a particular topic or demographic, consider adding it as an exclusion at the campaign level.

That’s it!

    of your in-stream video ads?
  • Do you want to reduce your cost per view and save money?

Google recently changed the way that viewers interact with in-stream ads to make them mobile friendly. Google says “we believe these new features will make your video ads more engaging.

Here are 2 things that have changed with the way that viewers
interact with your video ads and what to do about them:

Formerly clicking anywhere on the ad would count as a click. Now only clicks to cards, call to actions, the video header, companion banner or link at the bottom left of your video will count as a click.

2. Charge for click or full view
You will now be charged for the full view or the click but not for both.

How To Set-Up Placements Targeting For YouTube Video Ads

  • Do you want to increase the conversion
    rates for your YouTube Ads?
  • Placements enable you to place your YouTube Video Ad
in front of your competitor’s video.

For example if your competitor’s video gets 4 million views your video will play for a few seconds before their video starts playing. If your viewer clicks on your video ad within the first 30 seconds you don’t pay a cent.

Instead of losing money playing your video in front of unrelated videos you can play your video in front of specific videos using Placements.

Placements allow you to include video ads on YouTube Channels,
YouTube Videos and websites in the Google Display Network.

Here’s how to set-up Placements Targeting:

Watch the video below…

Click here to download the Video Ads Cheat Sheet

  • Go to “all video campaigns”
  • I am going to select the Test 2 campaign
  • Click on targets and as you can see I’ve got a couple of targets set up.
  • To create a new targeting group just click on
the plus sign give it a name ie “Placement 3”
  • I’ve got my video “VideoAd 2”
  • Enter the cost per view in this case I’m going to enter 6 cents
  • And over on the right it shows you how many views per day
and your average cost per view…4 cents
  • Then I am going to skip the demographic and interests
  • I’m going to click on “narrow your targeting options”
  • Click on “placements”
  • I can add the videos manually or I can search for
suggestions so let’s click on “search for suggestions”
  • Let’s look at “dog training”…it can be the main keyword
  • I’ve YouTube placements..you can see all the videos listed
  • And I’ve got GDN placements which is the Google Display Network
  • So I am just going to choose the YouTube Video Ad Placements
  • Here you can see I’ve got the video “Zak George’s Dog Training”
so I can add that one.
  • If I want to check out the video just open up a new tab and
visit the YouTube channel for “Zak’s dog training revolution”
  • Now If I want to check out all his videos just click on “videos”
  • Click on the drop down
  • Select “most popular”
  • Here you can see in one year this video got 717,000 views
  • Another video got 595,000 in one year 164,000 in one year.
  • All these are very popular videos that can be selected
  • So if I click on the video I can see that the video playing
before that actual video so I know that it is monetized
  • So I can just highlight the URL, copy it, then place it in manual placements
  • And I can select another video….”how to train a puppy not to bite”
  • Add the video to the placements targeting box
  • Then just click “add all” to add all the videos
  • Click “done”
  • Click “save targeting group” to continue.

Now you can see I’ve got my new targeting group “Placement 3” cost per view 6 cents. I didn’t touch gender or interest and all my placements are listed. I can add up to 500 different placements.

That’s it!

Here are 3 important things to keep in mind:

1. You can create multiple targeting groups in a video ads campaign.
2. A targeting group can be tied to more than one individual ad
and an ad can be tied to more than one targeting group.
3. For example Placements can be one targeting group & keywords
can be another targeting group.

Now you know How To Set-Up Placements Targeting
For Your YouTube Video Ads.

How To Set-Up Targeting Options For YouTube Video Ads To Increase Conversions

Do you want to increase the conversion rates of your YouTube ads?
Do you want to reduce the cost per view or cost per click?

If you target the right audience with your YouTube Ads you’ll get a higher click through rate and it will only cost you a few cents to acquire a new lead.

A targeting group determines what YouTube users you want to reach.
Every video ad needs at least one targeting group to run on YouTube.

Here’s How To Set-Up The 6 Different
Targeting Options For Your YouTube Ads:

Watch the video below…

Click here to download the Video Ads Cheat Sheet

  • Login into your adwords account
  • Go down to “all video campaigns”
  • I am going to select the “Test 2” campaign
  • Go to settings
  • Click targets
  • Create a new targeting group so click the plus sign
  • Name the targeting group so I name it “targeting group 3”
  • Enter a maximum cost per views so in this case I’ll enter 6 cents

Targeting Groups

1. Demographic

This can be any gender, any age any parental status

2. Interests
a) Affinity audiences
These raise brand awareness and drive consideration with your video ads by reaching people who have already have a strong interest in your brand, product or service.
b) In-market audiences
Reach people who not only have a strong interest in your brand, product or service but are most likely to make a purchase or conversion.

Click on “narrow your targeting”

3. Topics
You can target by category like “arts and entertainment” or subcategory if you click on the plus sign. For example you’ve got “celebrity and entertainment news” so you can just click “add” and that adds it to the selected topics.

4. Remarketing
Remarketing lists reach viewers based on their past interactions with your videos or YouTube channel. I don’t have any video remarketing lists so I just click “done”

5. Keywords
The keywords that you add will target your ads to all the networks that you selected for your video campaigns. For instance if you enter “dog training” then you get a list of related keywords which you can add automatically.

6. Placements
With placements you can add unique websites or placements within those websites. These can include YouTube channels, videos or even websites within the Google display network. You can add these URLs manually or you can search for suggestions.

For example say you want to go to “dog training” it will give you some suggestions such as “youtube placements”. So I’ve got “Zak George’s Dog training revolution” “dog whisperer” etc so I can add all of these suggested videos. I can click on any of these videos and open them up in a new tab.

For example I’ve selected a video which has 4 million views so I can place my video in front of it to show my ad to their viewers.

Just click “save targeting group” when you want to continue.

When you select your targeting options you’ll see over on the right how many views per day you’ll get and also your average cost per view. This will change based upon your targeting options.

That’s it!

Here are 4 important things to keep in mind:

1. Placements, Keywords and Interests are the
best targeting options in that order.
2. Optimize your ads after running them for a few days
3. You can use the same video with different ad text and thumbnails
to compare which ad text variations perform best.
4. You can associate your ad with multiple targeting groups

Now you know the 6 different Targeting Options
that you can use with your YouTube Ads.
