The Importance of Autoresponders

One of the most time consuming activities running an online business is following up on your customers. If you don’t follow up on them they’ll be less inclined to purchase your products. Autoresponders enable you to automatically build a large list and send a series of follow-up emails.

Why marketers don’t follow-up on their customers

Most visitors won’t buy a product the first time they see it. There may be a number of reasons such as:

  • Need more information to make an informed decision
  • Not a priority activity for their business
  • Distracted by other activities
  • Want to come back to it later
  • Don’t understand how it will benefit their business
  • Lack of motivation to take action

The importance of autoresponders

If 100 people visit your sales page and 1 person buys your product that means you have a 1% conversion rate. You may be happy you made a sale however you’ve lost contact with the other 99 people unless you implement an email autoresponder. Many online marketers just go for the immediate sale but leave a lot of money on the table by not capturing the majority of visitors that didn’t purchase their product.

How to double your sales using autoresponders

1. Create a free offer

This can be a free report, video, audio or software to motivate your prospect to subscribe to your list.

2. Write a series of follow-up emails

These emails should be related to your free offer. It could be 7 tips, 7 reasons, 7 ways, etc. Write several paragraphs for each tip and include a call to action at the bottom of the content.

3. Load the email messages into your autoresponder

Load the 7 tips into your autoresponder software. Space each tip 1 or 2 days apart. The first email should be sent immediately after they sign up. It should thank them for subscribing and include the download link to their free offer. Let them know they’ll be receiving more great tips from your later so they know what to expect.

4. Create a landing page with an opt-in form

Your landing page should contain a headline and a number of bullet points explaining the benefits of signing up to receive your free offer. Place the opt-in form on top right side of your landing page so they’ll see it immediately. Include name and email address fields so you can personalize each follow-up email.

Obtain the html code to insert in your web page from your autoresponder company. It’s simply a matter of copying and pasting the code they provide.

After you’ve finished creating your landing page upload it to your server so it is available to the public.

5. Promote your landing page

To attract visitors to your landing page you need to promote it. One free method that works well is to write a series of articles and submit them to the top article directories. Include the website address in the resource box at the end of each article. Create a natural transition from the article content to your resource box by saying something like:

“To receive more information please visit: yourlandingpage.com.”

Now that you know the importance of autoresponders and how they can double your sales make a plan to set up your follow-up system within the next few days.

You’ll be glad you did!

  2. Hello there! This is kind of off topic but I need some advice from an established blog. Is it hard to set up your own blog? I’m not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I’m thinking about creating my own but I’m not sure where to start. Do you have any tips or suggestions? Appreciate it
