I created a channel called “test” however the URL for that channel is very difficult to remember because it contains a bunch of letters.

  • To change that my channel name I click on the profile picture
  • Click on YouTube settings and under account information
  • Click on “Advanced”
  • Under channel settings you can see my channel URL is a long URL that contains many letters.
  • To change that to a business name I click “create custom channel URL”
  • Put your business name in the create custom channel URL box.

Keep in mind that once you’ve set your custom channel URL it can’t be changed.

  • I click on “create custom channel URL” and it says that the channel URL that I’ve selected is not available so let’s try a different name so I put in drostvideoconsulting
  • Click “create create channel URL” and here it says “you have created a custom channel URL”. Your new channel is…and here you can see my business name “drostvideoconsulting”
  • Under account information it says the name of the channel is still “test” so I want to change that on Google+ so click “Edit on Google+”
  • Here you can edit your name of your channel on Google Plus
  • Click “Save”
  • Now the name of your Google+ page is the same as your YouTube channel
  • Let’s check the name of the channel
  • So I click on Profile
  • Click on the YouTube settings cog and you will see drostvideoconsulting.
  • That’s it!

Now you know how to change the name of your channel on YouTube and Google Plus.
