How To Change Your Channel Icon Or Profile Picture On YouTube

You definitely want to change the default channel icon
on YouTube so it can correctly represent your channel.

You might want to upload a logo or even a profile picture of yourself.

The channel icon appears on the top left side of your YouTube channel banner and on the top right side of your channel home page. It will also appear on your Google Plus page that is connected to your YouTube Channel plus it will also appear next to your comments.

  • To change your YouTube channel icon simply
    log into your youtube channel
  • Click on “my channel”
  • So to change it hover over the icon
  • Click the pencil icon
  • It says “edit channel icon”
  • The channel icon is linked to your connected Google+ account. Edits on Google+ may take a few minutes to show on your channel.
  • Click “edit”
  • Select a photo from your computer..click on that
  • Click “choose”
  • It’s uploading
  • Ok here is the image..you want to expand that as much as you can
  • Click “set as profile photo”
  • Ok here is my photo
  • You can add a comment but I don’t want to do that so click “cancel”
  • And here you can see the profile photo or icon is on my Google Plus page

When I go to my YouTube Channel it will appear here on the top left and at the top right of my YouTube channel home page. This may take a few minutes but usually it takes a few hours or up to 24 hours.

Here are 2 important things to keep in mind

1. Channel icon specs

  • Use a JPEG, GIF, BMP or PNG file
  • Recommended size is 800×800 pixels
  • It will be a square or round image that renders at 98×98 pixels

2. Your channel icon will display on different devices
On your computer the channel icon will display on the top left hand corner of the channel banner. While on the android device the channel icon appears as a rounded image in the bottom left of the channel art.

And on IOS devices such as Apple iPhone the channel icon will appear as a square image below the channel art.
