How To Create Multiple Slide Shows For WordPress Web Pages

Want to rotate multiple photos on your WordPress web pages?
Want your images to fade into each other?
Want to place 2 or more slide shows on the same page?

One of the great ways to showcase your products or services is to rotate a series of images on a web page. It not only saves space but you can place it in a prominent location (ie top of the page or in a sidebar) so visitors can view it immediately when visiting your website.

How to Create a Single slideshow

To add a single slideshow to a post or page I typically install/activate the wp-cycle plugin which allows you to upload images from your computer and have them rotate. Each of the images can be linked to a URL of your choice.

The limitation of the wp-cycle plugin is that you’re unable to place 2 slideshows on the same page.

Configure the settings
In your dashboard go to Slides-Settings to input number of slides to rotate, the dimensions of your images, the transition style (ie fade), speed, duration and navigation.

How to create a slide

  • Go to Slides – Add New
  • Add a title for the slide
  • To add an image to your slide click the “Set featured image” link in the image uploader.
  • After uploading the image, click the “Use as featured image” link to add the image
  • After closing the media uploader a thumbnail of the image will appear in the Slide Image metabox.

If you want your slide to link to a larger image or another page enter the full URL to the Slide Link Metabox.

How to add multiple slideshows to your post or page

Create a name and a slug for each slideshow. When you add a slide select which slideshow you want it placed in. The slug name is used in the short code that’s added to the page displaying your slideshows.

If you entered the slug name “model1” for your first slide show add this short code to your page….

[meteor_slideshow slideshow="model1"]

If you entered the slug name “model2” for your second slide show add this short code to your page….

[meteor_slideshow slideshow="model2"]

You have the option to link each image to a URL of your choice.

How to add a single slideshow to a post or page using the Meteor Slides Plugin

Add the short code [meteor_slideshow] to your post or page in HTML view if you just want one slide show.

How to add a slideshow using a widget

  • Go to Appearance – Widgets and drag the Meteor Slides Widget from the Available Widgets to a sidebar.
  • Make sure the slide width is set to fit the sidebar.
  • Fill in the fields on the widget box by giving your slideshow a title.
  • Enter the name of your slideshow and add your metadata.
  • When adding multiple slideshows, leave the slideshow field blank to show all slides.

Now you can add unlimited slideshows to any WordPress post or page with images that rotate and fade into each other.
