How does search engine optimization work?
When someone types a question into YouTube search that contains a main queued phrase, YouTube will display the best listings based upon search intent.

For example, recently I had a clogged kitchen sink and didn’t want to put a $500 or $600 for a professional plumber to unclog the sink. After watching a few videos on YouTube about how to unclog a kitchen sink, I was able to do the repair myself and save hundreds of dollars.

My intent when searching for the information was to unclog my kitchen sink as fast and as cheap as possible. Other words I could have used to get the same results would be
– How to fix a kitchen sink.
– How to repair a kitchen sink.
– How to unclog a kitchen sink
– Unclog kitchen sink?

Google and YouTube search engines are now smart enough to know the searches intent. You can include your main keyword phrase anywhere in the title to get the same results.

Example
If I insert the keyword phrase, “video titles” in the YouTube search bar, it gives me 2,900 searches per month according to keywords everywhere and a cost per click of $2.43 cents.

If I enter the keyword phrase, “YouTube video titles” in the YouTube search bar, I get 1,900 searches per month according to keywords everywhere, and a cost per click of 36 cents.

If I choose any of these keyword phrases as the complete title from a YouTube video, the title would be too boring and it wouldn’t receive any clicks.

If I look at the top videos listed in the search engines for those main keyword phrases, I can see that the main keyword phrase is included in the titles. For example, this one has YouTube title, this one has YouTube video title, this one has YouTube title, this one has YouTube video title all listed in the titles.

If I want to write a video title that satisfies both searchers and search engines, I must include the keyword phrase somewhere in my video title. It can be at the beginning, middle or end of the video title. YouTube and Google want to serve up the best content that’s directly related to the keyword or the search phrase in the title. Therefore you have to work your keyword into the title to satisfy both these searches and the search engines.
