Article Marketing Predictions for 2010

Article Marketing Predictions 2010

Article marketing has been a proven strategy for many years to build traffic, backlinks and search engine rankings. In the beginning one article could easily generate a lot of traffic however as article marketing went main stream you had to write and publish lots more articles to stand out from the crowd.

My predictions for 2010

1. Big companies submitting to article directories

Large companies will be hiring thousands of writers to write millions of articles that will get added to article directories.

2. Article writing software increases

There are software programs that spin your article into 1000 variations. They are then submitted to the article directories. Often the content doesn’t make sense and clutter the search engines with article spam. Because of the demand, more of this type of software will get produced.

3. Search engines filtering out spam articles

When web site owners tried to build 1000s of backlinks with link farms the search engines eventually penalized these sites by removing them from the search engines. The same may happen with article spam because search engines want to return the highest quality results to their consumers.

How to prepare for 2010

1. Increase the amount of unique articles you write and publish.

If you wrote and submitted 120 articles this year, make a goal of doubling your output. Outsource the writing if you don’t have the time to do it yourself. It’s going to take more articles to generate a steady stream of traffic.

2. Write longer quality articles

Longer articles of 400-800 words receive more clicks than shorter ones (250-300 words). Ezine publishers prefer high quality articles over poorly written ones so make sure you research the material thoroughly before writing about it.

3. Be consistent

Make a plan to write and submit several articles each week instead of when you feel like it. If you can’t do this commit to one article per week. The key is to do it consistently. Think of article marketing as your advertising agent. If you stop marketing your business you’ll stop attracting business.

4. Repurpose your content

Search engines prefer to see links coming from multiple sources instead of just one source. Convert your article into audio and video content then submit it podcast directories and video sharing sites. You will reach a wider audience.

5. Monitor article statistics

Ezinearticles is the most popular article directory because it provides article reports that track click through rate, views and the keywords used to find your article. It continually provides more ways to maximize the traffic to your articles. By monitoring your statistics you can work on improving your content to you get more visitors reading it and clicking the URL in the resource box.

By making preparations based on these article marketing predictions for 2010 you’ll stay ahead of your competitors and reap the benefits in your online business.

  1. Great article!! We are already seeing clients asking for more website content and material to support the online activity and social media work we are doing with them.

Great news for all the content providers out there!

Agree, article marketing will be bigger – so much so we are looking to grow our own content team even further in 2010.

  2. We study search demand/supply trends from around the world to find profitable niches and products, and the main problem with predictions is that no one looks at the “supply” side to these predictions. A niche, or hot predictions, is not just a demand side issue, but a supply/demand curve. If you predict IPHONE apps will take off, and there are already 100,000 aps, then you aren’t going to hit that one. If you see that demand for cell phone radiation shields is going nuts and there are only two suppliers, then you can be pretty sure that it will be a good year for those 2 supplies. The software at http://www.TheInternetTimeMachine.com studies both the demand (search volume) and supply (think “results” in Google). The Google Phone is generating much more buzz right now then say the Apple Tablet.

  3. hi there
the blog was absolutely fantastic! Lots of great information and inspiration, both of which we all need!
    regards

  4. Thanks Mark…glad you find the info helpful.

  5. Many people have taken the plunge and joined the world of affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing gives you the chance to work for yourself and put your skills, hard work and independence together for you.

  6. Thanks for the info. I believe consistency is important in an article marketing campaign. Even one or two per wk, per blog or website adds up. I get a lot of traffic to my articles.

    Thanks again!

  7. I think you are right about an increase in article marketing software and that many of these spun articles will not make sense.

I personally have had at least 2 of my ezine articles republished and I have found them online after someone else has spun the article and you are not even able to read them.

It kinda pisses me off as they were well written articles, but now the whole point I was trying to make with them is gone. Also they still have my author name attached so if someone reads them, they may think that I wrote that crap.

  8. I feel your frustration (especially when you’ve invested all that time). I’ve spent lots of time chasing after these people however I found my time was better spent writing more articles.

  9. Congratulations on having one of the most sophisticated blogs Ive come across in some time! Its just incredible how very much you can take away from a little something simply because of how visually beautiful it is. Youve put with each other a excellent weblog space –great graphics, videos, layout. This is certainly a must-see weblog!

  10. I must agree with Lian, you have a beautiful website, and I love that it’s SO SIMPLE. Simple yet elegant. You mix this with SEO Optimized content, (Good Content), and you will get a lot of visitors.

Yeah, here it is in 2012, and content is king! I am seeing writing business around every corner lol (Not Literally) but there are so many of them, because it’s so important now a days in any business!

    • Brad..Content is still King however now it’s even more important to publish it in multiple formats due to the number of devices people are using to read, listen and watch..think video and audio not just text.
