How does fresh content affect visitors?

Traffic is the lifeblood of your website. If you don’t attract visitors and convert them into paid customers you’ll soon be out of business. Google and the other major search engines love new and fresh content. Websites that are constantly updated tend to rank well in Google as long as they are optimized with keywords people are searching on.

For example let’s say you wrote content for a web page on web design trends in 2000 then wrote about the latest design trends for this year. Which page would a person like to receive when searching for the latest web design trends? Obviously they would want to get the most up-to-date information.

If a search engine wants to display the most targeted information for a specific keyword they’ll rank new and fresh content ahead of outdated content to stay relevant.

How to Stay New and Fresh With Your Web Page

1. Find relevant keywords

Use Google’s keyword tool to discover keywords related to your niche. To achieve this enter your main keyword in the word or phrase box then click “search.” You’ll get a list of related keywords displaying the number of searches those keywords receive each month.

2. Weave keywords into your web page content

Create content around one of your keyword phrases. Include your keyword phrase in the meta tags, title, and content. Write for potential visitors not the search engines otherwise your content won’t read naturally.

3. Get backlinks

Your web page content is not going to be found unless you market it. To do this you need to get links from other sites pointing to your web page. Search for forums, blogs related to your niche and engage in conversations by answering people’s questions and including a link back to your web page.

Another way to get backlinks is to submit articles to article directories and ezine publishers. Make sure you include an inbound link to your site at the end of the article. When people finish reading your content they will click through to your site to receive more information.

4. Build a community around your content

Every time you add new and fresh content to your website announce it on your social media sites such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn to get the word out. If you do this frequently and consistently you’ll build relationships with people in your niche who will begin to trust you and look forward to receiving more of your content.

5. Create a newsletter

Sending out a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter is another great way to provide new and fresh content to your customers on a regular basis. I’ve got new business from subscribers after several years of receiving my Marketing Tips Newsletter. Building an email list of potential customers is a crucial factor in building long term relationships.

Create a content marketing plan by adding new and fresh content to your website every week or several times a week. Your traffic will continue to increase and so will you sales if you monetize your content correctly.
