Does Website Size Affect Its Authority In Google?

I often ask myself or my client the question: “What is the purpose of your website?” Is it to just to get more traffic? If so, what do you want to do with that traffic…sign up more subscribers or purchase your products? After you’ve established a clear purpose then what method have you implemented on your website to get subscribers or sell products?

For example you need to create an opt-in form on your web page as an incentive for visitors to sign up to your list so you can send them a series of autoresponder follow-up messages.

Alternatively if you want to sell a product you need to send traffic to a great landing page that points out its most important benefits.

If you’re building an authority site for a specific niche and want to place Adsense Ads on it you’ll need lots of original content.

Does Website Size Affect Its Authority In Google?

If you just add more pages you’re not going to get more search coverage and traffic. The content needs to appeal to your visitors and the search engines. To appeal to visitors you need to create original, unique content that helps solve peoples’ problems. For instance if your site is about pet odors your visitors want to know how to get rid of pet odors.

If your site becomes the “go-to” place on the web for pet odors it will be recognized by Google as an authority site and naturally attract visitors. These visitors may tell their friends which in turn will generate more traffic.

To attract the Google spider (Googlebot) your content needs to contain keywords people are searching on. Place them in the title, content and author resource box. The quality of the content is more important than quantity so visitors will naturally want to link to it.

To help Google index and rank your content you need lots of links pointing to it from other websites (backlinks). The quality and quantity of the backlinks will determine your rankings in Google. For example a link from CNN has more value than a new one page website. 1000 links pointing to your site will cause it to rank higher than a website with only a few links.

Create a content marketing plan

Every time you add new content to your website optimize it for visitors and the search engines. Find out where your audience resides on the Net by interacting with them on forums, blogs, social media sites and publishing your content in online publications.

As you create more quality pages that are optimized for both visitors and the search engines your website will gain more authority in Google.
