If you have an iOS device like an iPhone or iPad, go to the App Store and download the YouTube app. If you have an Android device, go to the Google Play Store. I have an iPhone, so I’m going to tap on the App Store, tap search at the bottom right, enter YouTube app, tap search. Now, I can see the YouTube app, which I already have installed on my iPhone. I just need to open it. In your case, if you don’t have it on your phone, you just need to install the app.
  2. Select the video that you wish to translate the comments for.
Tap the YouTube app, tap the library icon at the bottom right, tap your videos. I’m going to select this video, YouTube Channel Not Showing in Search.

Here’s a comment from Network Gamer that is in a completely different language than English, so I have no idea what he’s saying. To translate the comment, I just tap “Translate to English”. It says, “Thank you, and greetings to all foreigners.”

Now, I understand exactly what he’s saying, and I can easily reply. If I tap set original, then it goes back to the original language that the viewer commented with.

Now, you can do the same to translate any foreign comments into English, so you can engage with the viewers in the comments.

Here’s what YouTube says about how they translate YouTube comments….

“Translated comments are returned in the language that’s automatically detected based on various signals, such as your language, location, and recently watched videos. These signals show comments in the language that’s the best match for you. This language may be different from your main language setting.”

Keep in mind that this feature needs to be enabled every time you translate a comment and won’t translate comments automatically to a different language.
