YouTube (at the time of this writing) is currently ranked number 3 in the world (according to Alexa) and number of 4 in the United States. It’s also the number 2 search engine right behind Google which is number 1. This means many people are typing keywords into YouTube to find answers to their questions displayed in video format.
It you’re not currently using YouTube to generate traffic to your website you’re missing out on a lot of potential visitors who want to purchase your products and/or services.
10 ways to increase YouTube views
1. Create a YouTube video
First of all you need to make a simple video.
The article mentioned above displays a simple video I created using a simple video camera and Windows Movie Maker software (already installed on Windows computers) I then uploaded it to YouTube.
2. Include Keyword
Search engines (including YouTube) find your video based on the keywords you use. Make sure you include your main keywords in the title and description of your video. When writing the description think from your visitors viewpoint ie what is the main benefit of watching your video?
3. Add website address
Include your website address near the beginning of your description so it will appear under the video. After uploading your video to YouTube visitors will be able to click on the live link. Make sure you also include your full web address within your video both at the beginning and end.
Why the beginning?
Because some people will not watch your video all the away through to the end. Instead they may prefer to go directly to your website.
Why the end?
After your visitors have received a taste of the valuable information contained in your video they’ll want to get more. Displaying a link to your site at the end will get them to take action.
4. Get backlinks
Backlinks refer to links pointing to a web address. YouTube provides a URL for each video. To increase views to your video you need to generate backlinks to your YouTube address. One of the best ways to do this is to create a YouTube channel so you only have one URL to promote.

Write a blog post on the content contained in your video then embed the video in the post. Not only will search engines find your video but blog visitors will naturally want to watch your video.
6. Publish articles
Include a link to your video channel in the resource box of your articles then submit them to the top article directories and ezine publishers in your niche.
7. Write guest posts
Search for popular bloggers in your niche who get a ton of traffic and comments from their readers then offer to write a guest blog post that includes a link to your YouTube video or channel. If it’s a well written article which solves readers’ problems you will experience a flood of YouTube views.
8. Place ads in ezines
Look for popular ezines in your niche to place an ad. A well placed solo ad in a popular ezine will stand out from other content. Make sure you add your video URL to the ad. The beauty of this method is that you get instant traffic instead of waiting for the search engines to find your content.
9. Create a video response
Search for videos on YouTube that have received thousands or millions of views then create a video response. Your video will stand out from the crowd because most people only leave written responses. Make sure you include a link to your own video.
10. Social media
Every time you create a new video announce it on your Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn accounts. Building a community of interested followers is better than marketing to cold contacts. People you build relationships with tend to be repeat buyers.
